Buying guide

Everyone asks for the price first, and it is a fair question. The honest answer is that a diesel generator does not have one price — it has a specification, and the price follows from it. This is what moves the number, so you can compare two quotes properly.

The six things that set the price

  • Rating — the kVA you need. This is the biggest factor, and the one most often guessed wrong
  • Engine brand — Cummins, Perkins and Deutz are priced differently for the same output
  • Enclosure — an open set costs less than the same set in a soundproof canopy
  • ATS panel — automatic changeover is a separate item from the generator itself
  • Installation scope — foundation, cabling, exhaust routing, transport and commissioning
  • Exchange rate — genuine engines are imported, so the figure moves with the rupee

Why we do not publish a price list

Because a figure that is wrong by the time you read it helps nobody. With imported engines and a moving exchange rate, a published list is either out of date or padded to be safe.

Instead we quote line by line — set, canopy, ATS panel, cabling, civil work, transport and commissioning — usually the same day. You see what each part costs before you commit to any of it.

How to compare two quotes

  • Check the engine model on both, not just the brand name and the kVA
  • Check whether the rating is standby or prime — they are not the same output
  • Check that the canopy, ATS panel and installation are either in both quotes or out of both
  • Ask whether the unit is brand-new with documentation, or reconditioned
  • Ask who services it, where the spares are held, and what the warranty covers

The cheapest set is rarely the cheapest to own

Fuel is the real cost of a generator. Over a few years of load-shedding, the difference in litres per hour between two sets is larger than the difference in their purchase price.

The same goes for size. An oversized set costs more to buy, burns fuel it never needed to burn and wet-stacks at low load. Getting the rating right is the single biggest saving available, which is why the load calculation is free.

Questions

Quick answers.

Not covered here? Send us your appliance list or a photo of your distribution board and we will size it for you at no cost.

Ask an engineer
  • Send us the load — an appliance list, a machine list or a photo of your distribution board — by the quote form, WhatsApp or phone. You will have an itemised quote, usually the same day.

  • To buy, yes. We do not deal in them. Every set we supply is brand-new and certified, with documentation, and you are welcome to inspect the engine plate at the showroom before anything is paid.

  • The quote shows installation as separate lines — foundation, cabling, transport and commissioning — so you can see exactly what it costs alongside the set.

Next step

A free site survey, an honest recommendation on rating, and an itemised quote with nothing buried in it. No obligation either way.
