What routine servicing involves
Servicing follows runtime hours rather than the calendar — typically every 250 running hours for oil and filters, with a fuller inspection annually. A standby set that runs two hours a week and a prime set that runs two shifts a day are on completely different schedules, and should be.
- Engine oil, oil filter, fuel filter and air filter changes
- Coolant, belts, hoses and battery checks
- Controller and ATS function test, including a live transfer
- A run under load, because a set that idles perfectly can still fail when asked to work
Annual maintenance contracts
An AMC bundles the scheduled visits, the parts and priority breakdown response into one predictable figure. Most customers put it in place from commissioning day, partly because the warranty requires servicing to be kept to schedule.
