An ATS panel is what makes a generator automatic. It watches the mains, starts the set when the supply drops, moves the load across, and hands it back when the grid returns — with nobody walking to the generator room in the dark.
What an ATS panel does
- Detects a mains failure and signals the generator to start
- Transfers the load to the generator once voltage and frequency are stable
- Transfers back to the mains when supply returns, then cools the engine down and stops it
- Prevents the mains and the generator from ever feeding the load at the same time
How long the changeover takes
Sets with an automatic transfer switch start and take load within roughly 8 to 15 seconds. For most buildings that gap is a flicker and a pause.
Where even that gap is unacceptable — operating theatres, servers, telecom — the set is paired with a UPS, so the load never sees an interruption at all. The UPS carries the seconds; the generator carries the hours.
See one transfer before you buy
ATS panels are wired live at our Khayaban-e-Jinnah display centre in Lahore. You can watch a transfer happen, time it yourself, and see the controller a set will actually ship with.
Controllers and panel spares are stocked at the Brandreth Road branch, so a failed component does not wait on an import.

Ask an engineerUsually, provided the set has electric or automatic start and a controller that accepts a remote start signal. We check the set before quoting rather than assuming.
If someone is always on site and happy to start the set by hand, no. If the load includes refrigeration, a pump or anything that must come back without a person present, an ATS pays for itself quickly.
It is quoted as its own line. The quote shows the set, the canopy, the ATS panel and the installation separately, so you can decide on each one.
A free site survey, an honest recommendation on rating, and an itemised quote with nothing buried in it. No obligation either way.
